Pub landlady Samantha Atkinson returns to the X Factor audition room tonight. The mother-of-two was kicked out of last year's bootcamp when she was put in a group with Big Brother star Ryan Ruckledge, but will she be given a second chance?
Pub landlady Samantha Atkinson returns to the X Factor audition room tonight after she was kicked out of last year’s bootcamp when she was put in a group with Big Brother’s Ryan Ruckledge.
Simon Cowell described the reality TV star as a “horror” and Samantha, from Hull, says the last time she appeared on the ITV talent show things were “difficult”.
Speaking about clashing with Ryan, she said: “I was at bootcamp last year and I was put in a difficult group.”
But Samantha believes the decision did her a favour, as it has made her stronger and ready to take on the judges and contestants this time round.
Samantha performs a version of Adele’s When We Were Young, but will she be given a second chance?
There’s more drama on tonight’s episode when a particularly desperate hopeful breaks into another act’s audition in an attempt to wow the judges.
Kirsty Murphy, a 21-year-old dance teacher, barges in on a girl group amid fears she will not get her chance on the final day of auditions, but Simon Cowell admits he admires her “sheer determination” and that she has “balls” for pulling the stunt.
Tearful Kirsty attempts to win the judges over with a rendition of Alicia Keys’ If I Ain’t Got You.
Other acts hoping to woo the panel as auditions come to a close are former Waterloo Road actor Will Rush, a woman with a penchant for cockatoos and a former MOBO Award nominee who lost out to Adele.
Meanwhile, on Friday morning ITV announced a new three-year deal for talent shows Britain’s Got Talent and The X Factor, which is on its 13th series.
Simon Cowell’s shows, which are two of the UK’s biggest television formats, will continue on Britain’s most watched commercial channel until at least 2019.
