Zoe Lucker has joined the cast of Waterloo Road as the mother of a trouble-making family set to cause chaos.

Zoe joins the BBC1 show as Carol Barry, the head of a hell-raising Liverpudlian criminal family.

With her husband in prison, Carol is a single mum to three unruly kids who will be played by Jersey Boys actor Carl Au, Willy Russell’s: Our Day Out actress Abby Mavers and newcomer Brogan Ellis.

Former EastEnders actress Zoe said: “I’m delighted to join the cast of Waterloo Road and work with Shed [Productions] and the BBC again. It’s a show I’ve always enjoyed and I’m thrilled to be part of the outrageous Barry family.

Cameron Roach, head of drama for Shed Productions and executive producer of Waterloo Road, said: “Zoe is a terrific addition to our ensemble cast, it is incredibly exciting to be working with her again after working together on Footballers’ Wives. This time her character’s not about glamour but keeping her family together.”

The Barry family are set to make their on-screen debut in the eighth series, currently being filmed on location in Waterloo Road’s new home in Greenock, Scotland.
