My Fair Lady reportedly next BBC talent show

Monday 1st October

My Fair Lady will be the next search-for-a-star show on the BBC, according to a report in The Sun.

The decision is believed to have between the hit 1956 musical and West Side Story.

But My Fair Lady was chosen because it's a search for a female lead; the last BBC1 show Any Dream Will Do featured a search for a new male West End star.

My Fair Lady is the story of Eliza Doolittle, the Edwardian Cockney flower-seller who is transformed into an upper-crust lady, and is an adaptation of the George Bernard Shaw play, Pygmalion. It features songs like Wouldn't it be Loverly and I Could Have Danced All Night.

Once again Andrew Lloyd-Webber will be the show’s mentor and Graham Norton will host.

The report hasn't yet been confirmed by the BBC, which is believed to still be in talks with producers.
