Keeley Hawes slams cult of celebrity

Actress Keeley Hawes has hit out at the culture of celebrity, slating those who become famous on reality TV shows.

Keeley, who is married to Spooks co-star Matthew Macfadyen, is currently back on our screens in the Life on Mars spin-off Ashes To Ashes, starring opposite Philip Glenister.

She told the Radio Times: "Celebrity culture is so sad. I wish there was a way of separating those who work hard for a living from the Big Brother, paparazzi-type celebrity who makes money quickly, although I imagine it's easy to fall into that."

Mum-of-three Keeley has had her fair share of tabloid fame, after leaving her first husband for Matthew after just eight weeks of marriage.

She admitted: "It affected others - my parents and my ex-husband, who's now my best friend. I feel bad because I know how unhappy he was, but there were much worse things going on in the world."

Keeley married Matthew in 2004 and they have two children - Maggie, three, and Ralph, one.
