The Eighties revivalist cop show Ashes to Ashes has been recommissioned for a second series by the BBC.
Despite some indifferent critical reviews, especially following the universal praise for its parent series Life on Mars, the BBC says it's being recommissioned 'following strong ratings and fantastic feedback from its army of fans'.
Series one has averaged well over 6.5 million viewers so far, while the eagerly anticipated opener was watch by more than eight million viewers.
There's no confirmation yet whether Keeley Hawes, who plays DI Alex Drake, will return, but the cliffhanger in Thursday's final episode should answer that question.
