Alex steps out with playboy Danny

It's Lady Diana Spencer's wedding, and DCI Gene Hunt is determined that nothing is going to ruin her big day. When a family's protest against the Docklands re-development becomes volatile, and a bomb explodes in that area, Gene is determined to keep things under control � at least, until Lady Diana walks down the aisle.

Gene and DI Alex Drake suspect that Thatcherite playboy Danny Moore's life is under threat from the London Liberation Front. Danny soon charms Alex, who goes for a drive in his DeLorean car. But their trip comes to a terrifying end, and with Alex left in no fit state to work, Gene and Ray must crack on with the case.

Alex is assigned to look after Danny and asks him to surprise her on a night out. When they arrive at the legendary Blitz Club and bump into the usually timid Chris, made up like a New Romantic, and his date, a stunning 'Shaz', Alex realises that maybe this world isn't so bad after all.

Much to Gene's annoyance, Alex calls her mother, high-profile lawyer Caroline Price, to defend the suspected bomber. But as tensions rise, Alex starts to wonder if her mother is the woman she always thought she was.
