Has Gene run out of steam?

There's been an armed robbery, and DCI Gene Hunt has a hunch that Chas Cale, a renowed criminal he tried to bring down in Manchester, is the brains behind it. But when Chas claims that he now suffers from epilepsy, which forced him to give up his life of crime, Gene begins to wonder whether he too is past his prime.

With Gene ready to give up on the case, Alex gives Ray and Chris the chance to prove themselves by sending them undercover at a local pub. At first they seem more interested in a game of Space Invaders - but they come up trumps when they track down new suspect, Billy Dane. But he's later found dead on nearby scrubland...

As the case moves up a gear, Alex goes to question the murder suspect but ends up putting her own life in danger. It's now up to Gene to muster all the strength in his old bones to save her.
