The latest Celebrity Hijack action

*Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty won this series of Celebrity Big Brother*
After the brouhaha of last years Anglo-Indian stand-off on Celebrity Big Brother, Channel 4 could be excused for playing it safe in 2008 to appease viewers, sponsors and the United Nations. Instead, theyve launched a volatile new Big Brother concept, Celebrity Hijack, which seems about as safe as fireworks in a fuel depot.
Presenter Dermot OLeary, whos taken over as eviction host from Davina McCall, explains: Theres two fundamental differences to this show. Firstly, the celebrities will actually be Big Brother And secondly, rather than doing auditions, we went out and deliberately cast people to be in the house. Very gifted people so, young scientists, young athletes, young acrobats, young MENSA members or whatever. Hopefully itll lead to a really fun experience.
Fun? Well, when the celebrities playing Big Brother include Little Britains Matt Lucas, comedian Jimmy Carr, Sex Pistols creator Malcolm McLaren, ascerbic veteran US comic Joan Rivers and ex England football ace Ian Wright, its only a question of time before the first housemate walks.
Big Brothers Big Mouth co-host Mathew Horne (pictured), star of BBC3s Gavin and Stacey and The Catherine Tate Show, is relishing the prospect of working with his mate, James Corden, after four nights presenting the show during Big Brother 8. The freedom we had to write what we wanted to write and work together outside of Gavin and Stacey was a real thrill, says Mathew.
And it was a totally exhilarating format to work in, it being live TV. So, to get to write some filthy jokes with one of your best mates, and perform it every day, live, is a real thrill and an honour.
Celebrity hijackers? Tender young talents? Troublemaking BBBM presenters? We hope they know what theyre doing...
*BIG BROTHER: CELEBRITY HIJACK will screen only on E4 until the final, which will air in late January.
*BIG BROTHERS LITTLE BROTHER will screen Monday-Friday at 7.30pm and Sunday at 7pm.
*BIG BROTHERS BIG MOUTH will go out each night on E4 at 10pm (Mon-Thurs) and 10.30pm on Friday.*

The final of Big Brother: Celebrity Hijack drew just 644,000 viewers - a fraction of the 3.4 million viewers who tuned into the show's launch night on Channel 4 and E4 on January 3.
