Ben Shephard hosts as renowned choreographers Arlene Phillips and Bruno Tonioli go head-to-head in the search for a new all-singing, all-dancing supergroup in DanceX.
Over seven weeks, Hot Gossip founder and Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene and fellow Strictly Come Dancing panellist Bruno will be putting their reputations on the line as they mentor two teams of finalists which they believe have the potential to take the UK dance scene by storm with just one group being crowned DanceX champions.
Hosted by former Xtra Factor presenter Ben Shephard, DanceX is a bustling hybrid of Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor with the aim of finding an exciting new act that can dance as well as they can sing.
Arlene says: "We're looking for the coolest, hippest dancers and singers, who have the drive and ambition to make it big and be part of the most exciting new group of the 21st century."
Auditions were held across the UK back in May, and saw thousands of eager hopefuls turning out to wow the judges with everything from Bollywood to burlesque; ballet to body-popping.
The first two programmes will feature those all-important auditions when the wannabes are whittled down to the final 16 dancers who will get the chance to perform on the live shows. And here's where the competition really begins - Arlene and Bruno must fight for their favourites, each creating a dance troupe which they think will lead them to victory.
Then, every Saturday night for four weeks, each group must perform three numbers one dancing, one singing and one featuring both song and dance. After the two groups have done all they can to impress, it's then up to the viewers to vote for their favourite.
When the results are in, the judge mentoring the least popular group will have the tough job of choosing one of their own performers to put away their dancing shoes and go home.
In the live final, Arlene, Bruno and their two groups will get to battle it out for one last time. Only one group can be crowned DanceX champions and it's up to the public to decide which one it will be.
