Born on the mean streets of Glasgow's Govan in 1969, Cal has become a well-known TV actor, typically for playing intense, repressed characters (Waking the Dead, Silent Witness). So it's no great stretch for Cal to be playing DI John Keenan, another unconventional, tough, introspective type. He played outside his normal range in the Royal Mail drama Sorted, where his character Radge was a fun-loving party animal.
