I'd Do Anything: Jodie favourite to win!

Saturday 31st May

Agony aunt Jodie Prenger is the favourite to win the role of Nancy in Saturday's I'd Do Anything final.

The 28-year-old former cruise ship singer from Blackpool is evens to be crowned series champion according to bookmakers Paddy Power.

Irish teenager Jessie Buckley is second favourite, while fellow teen Samantha Barks is the outsider to win the role.

However Andrew Lloyd Webber has been voicing doubts over Jodie - who won the TV diet show Britain's Biggest Loser in 2006 after losing eight and a half stone - after producer Cameron Mackintosh suggested her size might make her unsuited to performing eight shows a week.

"Cameron thinks she is a bit too big and has more or less said so," Lloyd Webber told The Mirror.

However he praised her personality and talent. "Jodie could be anybody's idea of Nancy - I can see it absolutely. She has got a lovely voice and a super personality. She has experience as well."

And he also gave the thumbs-up to the other two finalists. "Jessie has something extraordinary," he told the paper. "That girl can go a very long way indeed."

"And Samantha's strength is that she has got a fabulous voice."

The final begins on BBC1 at 6pm. The winner will play the role of Nancy in the new West End production of Oliver, with a contract running from December until the middle of 2009.
