Barbara Riley wants husband Maurice to put his criminal days firmly behind him. He had a heart attack recently and she fears that all the excitement of safe-cracking and burglary could push him over the edge. There's just one problem: money.
Joe Woolsey, the troublesome son of Maurice's old friend and partner-in-crime, Syd, has run into more problems and needs to be bailed out. With no cash at their disposal, the boys decide that they will have to fall back on their old wily ways and rob again.
Meanwhile, Hedley Huthwaite son of their former crime pal, Vernon (now deceased) has heard that Syd and Maurice are returning to Britain to settle, and wants a piece of any new action they might be planning. With Hedley roped into the gang, the criminals plan their final job.
