Any Dream Will Do

Twelve Josephs. Only one Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. And viewers will decide which young hopeful gets to wear it when Andrew Lloyd Webber's latest talent search, Any Dream Will Do, launches on BBC One.

In 2006, the BBC's How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? catapulted telesales girl Connie Fisher to stardom as Maria von Trapp in theatre impresario Andrew Lloyd Webber's revival of The Sound Of Music. Hot on the heels of its success, Any Dream Will Do follows thousands of hopefuls as they battle it out for the lead role in Lloyd Webber's all-new West End stage production of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Thousands of Joseph wannabes attended open auditions nationwide at the start of 2007 in the hope of donning the multi-coloured robe. As with How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?, Any Dream Will Do presented by Graham Norton lets viewers in on the tough audition process, including the hopefuls' time at 'Joseph School', as they're whittled down to the final 12.

And this is where the competition really hots up. Each week, the finalists will sing live in front of millions of viewers and, of course, a ruthless panel of judges. Joining Lloyd Webber to give their verdict will be musical theatre star John Barrowman aka Captain Jack in Doctor Who and vocal coach Zoe Tyler, both of whom appeared on How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria? Also on the panel will be Denise Van Outen and acclaimed theatre producer Bill Kenwright.

The Joseph who receives the lowest number of public votes each week will be eliminated from the competition until the winner is finally revealed. The identity of the final 12 is still a closely guarded secret, but the line-up is thought to include a builder, an amateur performer and a professional actor none of whom have ever performed in a West End musical.

So, which of the hopefuls' dreams will become nightmares? And who will fulfil their ambition of becoming Joseph? Stay right up to date with whos in and whos out by logging onto whatsontv.co.uk. We'll have the results as they happen.
