Denise and Johnny Vaughan aren't on speaking terms

Denise Van Outen says she and her former co-host Johnny Vaughan - one of TV's best-loved duos - are no longer on speaking terms.

She said they have had no contact for more than two and a half years, since they last hosted a show together.

Denise claimed she had heard nothing from her former Big Breakfast pal when she married and gave birth.

The two were close friends when they fronted the Channel 4 morning show which kick-started both their careers.

They later teamed up temporarily to host the Capital Radio breakfast show together, which Johnny now hosts with Lisa Snowdon.

But during an interview on Radio 5 Live on Wednesday, Denise said they have not spoken since she left.

She said: "I haven't seen Johnny for a while, since I left the breakfast show, and I haven't heard from him.

"At that time it was quite a difficult situation - as much as I love Johnny, it wasn't a comfortable environment to be in.

"I think he wasn't happy that I joined in the first place - he made it quite clear."

Asked by presenter Richard Bacon whether the situation hurt, she said: "Yes it does - it's a shame because we were really good friends."
