Big Brother

Hankies at the ready folks – TV's most talked-about reality show is coming to an end.

That's right. After 10 years, Davina McCall hosts the 11th – and final – helping of the show that's given us tears, tantrums, friendships, fall-outs... and a lot more besides!

After the controversy of Celebrity Big Brother in 2007, Big Brother had been swimming against the tide and in August 2009 it was announced that it was being axed. Boo-hoo!

You'll already have seen the 'funeral' trailers on Channel 4 as former housemates such as Nasty Nick and Pete Bennett lay Big Brother to rest – but the final series promises to go out with a bang!

Just like she did back in 2000, Davina will be live on launch night to welcome another batch of fame-hungry contestants into the famous TV house.

They'll all be hoping to win over their fellow housemates to avoid getting the nominations that could see them face the public vote.

In a cruel twist for the final show, 40 hopefuls have been selected to appear on launch night – but only 20 will be chosen by the public to enter the house.

And it’s been reported that Series 2 winner Brian Dowling and Cameron Stout – the winner of Big Brother Bore, sorry, 4 - will be among this year's potential housemates.

Whoever the housemates are, we know that anything can happen on Big Brother – and probably will. But one thing's for sure; Davina’s definitely going to miss it.

"I feel sad, excited, weird and a big like a proud parent," she says. "It seems appropriate I should be at the birth and the death of such a brilliant show.

"I hope Big Brother is remembered for being THE most groundbreaking TV programme ever made."
