Big Brother Big Brother: Where Are They Now?

Big Brother has certainly provided us with some real characters over the years. Some became huge stars while others enjoyed just 15 minutes of fame. Here’s what some of the housemates got up to after leaving the house...

Nicholas Bateman

Schemer Nasty Nick was famously ejected from the very first series of Big Brother for rule-breaking. Nick wasted no time in capitalising on his notoriety, writing a book entitled Nasty Nick: How To Be A Right Bastard, presenting the TV show Trust Me and starring as – you've guessed it – the villain in the Big Brother panto. Nick also featured as the narrator in a stage production of The Rocky Horror Show and is now editor-at-large of The Good Holiday magazine.

Brian Dowling

It was Brian's fun-loving personality that led to him being crowned winner of Big Brother 2 and which has guaranteed the camp Irishman a successful career as a TV presenter since. He was paid £150,000 for presenting SM:tv Live, landed his own show, Brian's Boyfriends, and has just finished fronting a second series of ITV1's late-night quiz The Mint. Brian also has a regular showbiz slot on Vernon Kay's Saturday morning show on Radio 1 and is reportedly considering a soap role in Ireland.

Kate Lawler

As winner of Big Brother 3, ladette Kate Lawler made history as the show's first female champ. Upon leaving the house, Kate was signed up as a DJ on Capital FM and co-presented C4's failed breakfast show RI:SE. Like Jade, Kate has jumped on the reality TV bandwagon appearing on ITV's Celebrity Wrestling and the second series of Love Island. In 2006, Kate was confirmed as the new 'body' of Ann Summers and she's now living it up as a nightclub DJ across Europe and Japan.

Jade Goody

For someone who thought that East ‘Angular’ was abroad, hair-brained Jade certainly had plenty of savvy when it came to carving out a career for herself in the media after appearing on Big Brother 3.
She quickly became a darling of the gossip mags and was soon inundated with offers to appear on other reality shows including What Jade Did Next? and Jade's PA. She's also written an autobiography, released a fitness video, opened her own beauty salon and launched her own brand of perfume. It seemed that Jade could do no wrong... until she appeared on this year’s Celebrity Big Brother that is, when she ended up at the centre of the Shilpa Shetty race row. In an attempt to win back public support following the scandal, Jade agreed to give all proceeds from newspaper and magazine interviews to charity and went on a tour of India.

Nadia Almada

As the winner of 'evil' Big Brother 5, Portuguese Nadia Almada made Big Brother history by becoming the first transsexual to triumph. Since appearing on Big Brother, Nadia released the single 'A Little Bit Of Action' and an exercise DVD, in which she featured working out in stilettos. Having appeared in teen soap Hollyoaks and on Australian Big Brother, Nadia now plans to open a boutique in Portugal and write an autobiography for an estimated £200,000.

Anthony Hutton

Geordie lad Anthony was crowned winner of Big Brother 6 in 2005. The disco dancer has since been enjoying his time in the limelight appearing on Sky One's footy show The Match and releasing an exercise DVD, Anthony's 70s Disco Workout. He's also appeared in panto in Darlington and says he still likes being recognised in the street as 'Anthony from Big Brother'.

Pete Bennett

It was Tourette’s suffer Pete's combination of zany outbursts and mild manner that clinched him the title of Big Brother 7 champ last year. After a brief relationship with fellow housemate Nikki Grahame, Pete has since got engaged to childhood sweetheart 'Cherry'. Pete has just released his autobiography entitled Pete: My Story and it's been reported that he has left his band Daddy Fantastic to pursue a solo career, writing music with acclaimed songwriter Guy Chambers. Pete has also been a DJ at London club, Circus.

Jonathan Tickle

The Ticklemeister was hailed as the single best thing to come out of Big Brother 4 – or Big Brother Bore as it became known. After being evicted by the public, he was sensationally put back into the house by popular demand. Science enthusiast Jon is now most famous for being a co-presenter on Sky One's Brainiac: Science Abuse. He also created the 'time-delay' toaster, but the idea never really took off.

Helen Adams

Coming runner-up to Brian Dowling on the second series of Big Brother, Helen proved a hit with the public largely thanks to 'Helenisms' such as 'I like blinkin' I do' and for her will-they-won't-they relationship with fellow housemate Paul Clarke. Helen enjoyed a brief period in the limelight after Big Brother, appearing on Lorraine Kelly's topical chat show on Sky and ITV1's Loose Women. She also released a fun fitness DVD called Dance Workout With Helen. She's now gone back to her first love of hairdressing. Helen and Paul split in June 2006 after five years but remain close friends.
