EastEnders' Wendy helps Jade through treatment

Jade Goody has been comforted by Wendy Richard through her first chemotherapy session.

The Big Brother star turned up at London's Royal Marsden hospital with her hair cut into a short crop to start treatment for cervical cancer.

Jade bumped into the former EastEnders legend Wendy Richard as she waited to be treated.

A source said: "They got on really well and spent hours chatting. They are helping each other as much as they can. It was Jade's first session and it was absolute agony."

"But she thought Wendy was lovely - and talking to someone going through the same ordeal seemed to help them", the source told The Sun.

Wendy, who played Pauline Fowler in the soap for 22 years is fighting an aggressive form of the disease.

Today (Friday) she plans to marry her long-term partner John Burn, 45, in a civil ceremony before she starts her chemotherapy treatment.

Jade has been told her cancer has spread and she may have only a 50 per cent chance of survival. She is also raising her two sons alone after her partner, Jack Tweedy, was jailed for 18 months.
