Jade's diaries hit the bookshelves

Jade Goody's cancer diaries have hit the bookshelves, nearly a month after the former Big Brother star died.

The book, entitled Jade: Forever In My Heart, chronicles her battle with cervical cancer from when she was diagnosed while taking part in the Indian version of Celebrity Big Brother last August to her death on March 22.

In a foreword, her mother Jackiey Budden writes that the book - Jade's third autobiographical work - bears witness to the courage and good humour with which she fought the disease.

Jackiey also chronicles the last six days of Jade's life, when she was too weak to write herself, and describes holding her daughter's hand as the life finally slipped from her in the early hours of Mothering Sunday.

Jade, a former dental nurse from Bermondsey, south London, made no secret of her desire to use media interest in her disease to secure a financial future for her young sons Bobby and Freddy, and royalties from the book will go to them.

Publisher HarperCollins is to make a donation of £25,000 to Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The book ends with a wish list Jade compiled for her boys, in which she expresses her desire for them to visit a country in the developing world to make them understand how privileged their lives are.

She also says she wants them to have Porsches as their first cars and have 'good jobs that pay a lot of money'.

Jade: Forever In My Heart is available in hardback, priced £15.99.
