Brand and Cowell to release comedy single? (VIDEO)

Russell Brand is reportedly working on a novelty single with the Britain's Got Talent pop guru Simon Cowell.

The Chugga Chugga song was written by warm-up act Joby Harte as a way to get the audiences dancing on Russell's stand-up tour.

According to reports in The Sun, Simon Cowell was alerted to the tune when it was played on Russell's Radio 2 show last year and is hoping the song will become a hit single.

A label source told the newspaper: "Joby wrote the track to get the crowd on their feet before Russell's gigs.

"It's really cheesy and has a dance routine to go with it. Russell loved it and got involved by dancing along to it on his radio show.

"He thought that would be the end of it but record labels got in touch about releasing it. Joby is dead keen and Russell is up for a laugh if he can find the time to record it."

Russell said: "Joby is a Jelly Baby Jesus and Chugga Chugga can solve every global malady, from economic decline to the ongoing Carlos Tevez saga. Just Chugga Chugga...it’ll all be OK."

Simon Cowell made millions in the nineties with novelty songs from The Power Rangers, Zig and Zag and Robson and Jerome.
