Britain's Got Talent: Evans family talk about fame

Britain's Got Talent's Evans' family have mixed emotions after their appearance on Saturday night's launch show.

Coventry's answer to the Von Trapp's - who go by the stage name of Good Evans - impressed judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan with their rendition of The Jackson 5's I'll Be There.

Music mogul Simon hailed 13-year-old Elliot a 'superstar', saying he was 'absolutely fantastic' while his younger sisters, Georgia, seven, and Olivia, six, were praised as 'amazing backing singers'.

But Simon wasn't as kind to parents Estelle and Giles. "It was a bit of a wounder, Simon saying I was atrocious," Giles told The Mirror.

"And on YouTube someone said I couldn't sing and that I looked like Ian Beale off EastEnders. I'm not sure which is worse."

Elliot, however, appears to be taking his new-found fame in his stride. "I've had 320 friend requests on Facebook already!" he beamed, adding, "It's pretty cool having girls get in touch with you - but they're all gold-diggers.

"They're only interested because I was on television at the weekend. I'd only want someone who's interested in Elliot, not just because of the snow."

That hasn't stopped Elliot practising his autograph: "Yeah, I've practised my autograph," he said. "It's just my name really. It's weird having people know who you are.

"But it's all good. I've been getting messages off girls telling me I'm fit and that I've got a good voice, which is cool."

But there could be trouble ahead for the family's prized asset. "His voice broke a few weeks ago, just after the audition," revealed Estelle. "We're still waiting to see what notes he can reach."

Britain's Got Talent continues on Saturday April 18 at 7.55pm on ITV1.
