Cowell feels bad about Kelly Brook axeing

Simon Cowell said he'd be happy to work with Kelly Brook on future TV shows, and he felt 'very bad' after she was axed from Britain's Got Talent.

The 29-year-old was dropped on Monday after barely a week on the panel alongside Simon, Piers Morgan and Amanda Holden.

Show producers decided the four-judge format was too 'complicated', and Kelly was the one to go.

Today (January 20) Simon told his publicist Max Clifford he was anxious to put the record straight about Kelly's performance.

"I had a long conversation with Simon after he flew back from LA," Clifford said. "I feel for her and so does he. It must be very upsetting (for her), and that's why he was very very keen to let everybody know that Kelly did everything that was asked but it was one judge too many for that format."

Simon felt having the extra judge slowed the show down too much, Clifford said.

"It was an experiment and Simon just feels very bad because it's been made to seem as if she failed and she didn't fail," he added.

"He said to me this morning: 'She was good, Max, she was genuinely good'. Simon's always looking for new shows, always thinking about possibly doing this, possibly doing that and Kelly is definitely someone he would want to work with again provided there's the right format."

A spokesman for production company Talkbackthames said Kelly brought 'a huge amount of warmth to the show', but said the programme's format 'is cleaner and less complicated with just three judges, which was not fully appreciated ahead of filming'.
