Simon Cowell and fiance 'on a break'

Simon Cowell has admitted that he and fiancee Mezghan Husseiny are taking a break from one another, and have not spent time together for a month.

The mogul - who has returned to a full-time role on the judging panel of Britain's Got Talent - said he the make-up artist last saw each other before Christmas - and even then the meeting was only brief.

"It's quite a complicated relationship," he said. "We have had a break from each other, and we are still incredibly close.

"It's vulnerable," Simon added. "It's not on, it's not off, it's somewhere in the middle. I don't know if I will ever get married but I am happy."

He added that he regretted calling Mezghan "the one" when he appeared on Piers Morgan's Life Stories, saying he "got caught up in the moment".

The couple first met on the set of American Idol in 2003 although the romantic sparks did not fly until she worked on Britain's Got Talent in 2009.

Simon reportedly popped the question in early 2010, although Mezghan has since moved out of the home they shared in Los Angeles into another one of his homes, dubbed the 'girlfriend graveyard' after his ex-girlfriend Terri Seymour stayed there following their break-up in 2008.
