Spelbound leap into BGT history!

*Gymnastic troupe Spelbound won Britain's Got Talent 4*

With one of the acts being labelled a ‘regurgitator’, you know it can only mean one thing – the return of the TV juggernaut, Britain’s Got Talent.

The fourth series of the ITV1 smash hit series is even more eagerly anticipated following the impact of 2009’s runner-up Susan Boyle around the world…

But how can Simon Cowell possibly top that? “At times [the auditions] were like being in a nightmare!” he sighs.

But you know he doesn’t really mean it. He and fellow judges Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan have been out on the road auditioning in places like Cardiff, Birmingham and Ant &Dec’s hometown, Newcastle.

Far more positively, co-host Dec says: “We love it more each year! The acts get more ridiculous and funnier, plus there’s a greater variety this year.”

You just can’t argue with a programme that has introduced Paul Potts, Stavros Flatley, SuBo, Diversity and so many other stars to the nation.

And Amanda warns that there could be some big surprises in store for Britain’s Got Talent fans: “Highlights are a brilliant impressionist. And a fab gymnastic routine that I thought I would fall asleep watching, but it turned out to be utterly amazing. I hope it comes across as brilliantly on the TV screen as when we saw it live. There is also a father and son act that all of us found very moving and the best dog act we have ever seen!”

So who do they want to win this year?

Piers: “I love the underdog acts, the ones who don’t look perfect but put their heart and soul into their performance.”

Ant: “I’d like to see any variety act win, like a comedian, juggler or any specialist act.”

Simon: “A talented dog act.”

Britain’s Got Talent 2010 – let the madness begin!

*Britain’s Got Talent screens on ITV1 on Saturday evenings from April 13, followed by Britain’s Got More Talent on ITV2
