Twins, Michael and Gareth leave Big Bro house

The final of Celebrity Big Brother 2012 has seen twins Kristina and Karissa Shannon, actor Michael Madsen and rugby star Gareth Thomas finish in fifth, fourth and third place.

Kristina and Karissa were the first to leave the house in Friday's final, after receiving the lowest number of votes from viewers following a week of voting for their favourite housemate.

The pair predicted they would get a negative response from the crowd, and subsequently exited the house to a chorus of boos - but they remained unapologetic about their confidence in the house.

"We know we're very popular," Karissa said during their eviction interview, "They probably think we're arrogant but we don't care. We want to inspire other young women to be confident in themselves."

She added that she was "happy" with the way that she handled the incident in which Denise Welch pulled down her pyjama bottoms, saying, "I stood up for myself."

Michael Madsen, who was next to leave, expressed his amazement that he had made it to the final, saying, "I didn't even think I'd made it past three days - I'm not cut out for this kind of thing."

And the Reservoir Dogs star pulled no punches when it came to his fiery relationship with Denise Welch in the house.

"Could you ask security to keep her away from me?" he said. "I couldn't really tell what she was after, but she was definitely after me."

Rugby star Gareth Thomas - who had once been the bookies' favourite to win the series - left the house in third place.

The 37-year-old, who had been popular with the other housemates, said that he had tried to 'be himself' during his time on the show.

"I tried to get on with everyone, I tried to be myself with everyone," he admitted. "I didn't try for people to like me, I just tried to like them.

"I'm a team player," he added, "I don't like to do things on my own and being in there if you're not a team man you get found out. I'm not an individual, I wanted to be the team player in the house."
