Let's Dance scores audience of over six million

Around 6.5m viewers tuned in to the opening edition of Let's Dance for Sport Relief 2012, according to the BBC.

The corporation said that it had an audience share of 28.9 per cent for the dance show, which sees celebrities recreating famous dance routines in aid of the charity.

Saturday's show was won by EastEnders duo Laurie Brett and Tameka Empson with their recreation of the Lady Gaga/Beyonce hit Telephone.

Comedian Terry Alderton - who dressed up as Tina Turner for the classic Proud Mary routine - also made it through on the judges' vote, fighting off competition from DJs Tony Blackburn and David Hamilton.

Cricketer Darren Gough and Shooting Stars duo Angelos and Ulrika Jonsson also took part in Saturday's show.

Others taking part in the series include TOWIE twosome Amy Childs and Harry Derbidge, comedian Omid Djalili, DJ Scott Mills and singer Olly Murs.
