Crouch upset at way Abbey's pregnancy was revealed

Abbey Clancy is pregnant, her boyfriend Peter Crouch has confirmed.

The England footballer said he was upset with the way the news had emerged after it was leaked in a national newspaper.

Crouch said: "Abbey told me on 25 July that she was pregnant, but we agreed to keep it private until she was ready to make an announcement.

"There were even some members of our families who were still unaware that Abbey is pregnant until today's revelations in the Sun."

But Crouch's solicitor released a statement criticising the way the paper had reported the story.

Graham Shear, representing the footballer, said: "Peter Crouch today condemned intrusive Sun reporters who followed his girlfriend to a private clinic and eavesdropped and apparently recorded her private conversation in a restaurant.

"The Sun published a story stating that Abbey is pregnant, depriving her of the opportunity to make this public in her own time and in her own way."

The news of model and TV presenter Abbey's pregnancy comes in the wake of allegations surrounding Crouch's private life.

Pictures emerged of the 29-year-old footballer apparently flirting with women in France. The photos appeared to show Crouch touching the thigh of a woman in a French nightclub.

The paper declined to comment following Crouch's statement. But a Sun source said: "The story in the Sun speaks for itself. She spoke to a number of people in public about her 12-week scan."
