Dougie Poynter crowned I'm A Celebrity winner

Dougie Poynter has been crowned King of the Jungle in I'm A Celebrity... 2011 following a closely-fought final on Saturday night.

The McFly guitarist was a surprise winner, beating The Only Way Is Essex's Mark Wright who had been the hot favourite to take the title.

And he appeared stunned by the accolade, saying, "I'm lost for words....my mouth is so dry."

"It's been the best couple of weeks of my life," he said of his time in the jungle. "I wish everyone in the world could experience that."

Mark, meanwhile, accepted the defeat graciously, saying that there "couldn't be a better winner" than Dougie.

"He's the nicest, kindest person in the whole world," Mark said. "He deserves every minute of it."

And he added, "I've won being here. I can't be a loser today. It's not a competition. It's an experience of a lifetime and I've loved every minute."

The pair were the only two remaining in the jungle following a double eviction on Friday night which saw Fatima Whitbread and Anthony Cotton voted out.

Dougie admitted before the result was announced that he was amazed to have made the final.

"I didn't do anything," he said, "I just felt like I chilled in my hammock the whole time."

Prior to the result the pair's final day in the jungle was shown, when they competed in one last Bushtucker trial to win themselves a slap-up meal on their last night in camp.

The trial, dubbed The Final Party, saw the pair eating their way through a series of disgusting concoctions including a cocktail made from blended cockroaches, fish eyes, live beach worms and ostrich anus.

And while both admitted being sick afterwards they worked their way through a feast of lasagne, garlic bread, pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, sticky toffee pudding and chocolate brownies washed down with milkshakes.
