I'm A Celebrity: Joe wins!

Joe Swash has been crowned King Of The Jungle in I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! 2008.

The former EastEnders' star - who had been the bookies' favourite to take the title - fought off competition from tennis legend Martina Navratilova , who was this year's runner-up.

Earlier in the evening, Star Trek actor George Takei finished third in the series, while singer David Van Day took fourth place on Thursday night's show.

Joe said his time in the jungle had been "amazing. There's been ups, there's been downs and it finished on a high," he told Ant and Dec.

"The whole thing was a lovely experience and I'm definitely coming out a much more mature man than I was when I went in."

Martina, meanwhile, spoke of her "challenging" experience in the I'm A Celebrity camp.

"It was either very slow or action packed but nothing in between," she said.

"I did it because I had no idea what it was like. I thought I'd sleep under the stars, go camping, how hard could it be? But I've never done anything so challenging."

"But I learned I could adjust well to any situation, and that I can go into a room full of people I've never met before and make friends in a matter of days."

And she was full of praise for Joe. "I'm happy he won. You can't compete with EastEnders, can you?"

"Actually you can't compete with Joe. He is a gem."
