Popstar to Operastar

They're renowned singers in their pop, soul and rock fields, but can eight recording stars use their vocals talents to transform themselves into opera stars the way Darius Campbell did in the last series of Popstar to Operastar?
That is the challenge the new singers face when they line up in the ITV1 reality show hosted by Myleene Klass.
This year's stars include The X Factor winner Joe McElderry, soul diva Jocelyn Brown, Erasure front man Andy Bell, Ultravox star Midge Ure, former Pussycat Doll Melody Thornton, Steps singer Claire Richards, Toploader front man Joseph Washbourn and Buck Fizz star Cheryl Baker.
Midge for one is anxious about the approaching premiere. "Its a bit like playing a game with someone and they keep changing the rules on you," he said. "So just when you think youve got what theyre talking about you realise that your body will not do it. So Im kind of struggling right now.
"They keep assuring me that if you work at it and work at it you unlock this thing inside and all of a sudden youre not straining. Ive yet to hit that point!
Helping the stars to hit the high notes are mentors Katherine Jenkins and Rolando Villazon the highly regarded operatic duo will be using their expertise to guide the novices as they attempt to control their falsetto and deliver a world class performance.
Each week, viewers will be able to save their favourite star and a judging panel, which includes Katherine and Rolando, will offer their critiques on the performances.
Who has got what it takes to make the transition from pop idol to operatic sensation?
