Marcella and Kym miss out on Operastar final

Marcella Detroit and Kym Marsh have become the latest casualties of ITV1's Popstar To Operastar after being voted out in Friday's semi-final.

The former Shakespear's Sister singer and the Coronation Street star missed out on places in the final after receiving the fewest number of public votes.

The pair's departure means that Bernie Nolan and Darius Campbell will fight it out to become series champion next weekend.

For the first time this series the result was based purely on the public votes rather than the judges' decision.

Detroit and Marsh took defeat well, the former admitting she was "disappointed" not to have made the final but when prompted, said that she might carry on with her opera singing.

Marsh, meanwhile, said, "It's been great fun and we've met some lovely people. Now I'm going to see my kids."

Bookies have made Nolan the favourite to win the final, with Paddy Power offering odds of 2-5 on her taking the title ahead of Campbell at 7-4.
