Emmerdale actor latest off Soapstar

Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden has been surprisingly kicked off Soapstar Superstar, joining Elaine Lordan and Jane Danson as the early casualties.

Despite one judge saying he was in the 'top three', the diminutive blond actor wasn't a hit with viewers, who chose to save Hollyoaks actor Leon Lopez.

On Saturday night, Matthew seemed to be having the time of his life as he belted out Queen's Don't Stop Me Now - but viewers ruthlessly decided to do just that!

"To be in the bottom two gives you this sickening feeling in your stomach," he said. "I really want to win because I’ve tried so hard."

Matthew joined Elaine Lordan and Jane Danson as first to leave Soapstar Superstar.

But former EastEnders actress Elaine was hardly despondent. "I slept like a log last night. For the first time in weeks there weren’t songs going round my head and I’d stopped shaking.

"I think I did myself proud, I do. That kind of thing is sink or swim. And I think I swam," she says, before pausing and adding cheekily, "I demand a recount!"

It's back to the Dales and the day job for Matthew
