Jo Wood throws 'Strictly' strop

Strictly Come Dancing celebrity Jo Wood threatened to quit the show earlier this week after struggling to learn new steps.

The News Of The World reports that the former wife of Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood walked out of rehearsals for a group routine for the first show - and had to be persuaded by show producers to return.

Fellow contestant Natalie Cassidy also went to talk her round, as did her dance partner Brendan Cole.

Show insiders say that Cole - who is a notorious perfectionist - has been very supportive towards his new partner.

"There is no denying that Jo has been having a hard time," a source told the paper. "Strictly is an incredibly demanding show and she is feeling the heat.

"She had a bit of a breakdown on Friday when it all became too much. The first show is only two weeks away and there is enormous pressure on all the celebrities.

"We all know the pressure heaped on Fiona Phillips and Kate Garraway in previous series when their dancing was criticised. Jo is doing everything to make sure that doesn't happen.

"She loves the show, she loves working with Brendan and she wants to do her best. She doesn't want to disappoint anyone - least of all Brendan."

The new series begins on Friday September 18.
