Strictly: Rav Wilding is out!

Rav Wilding has become the latest casualty of Strictly Come Dancing 2009 after losing out to Lynda Bellingham in the dance-off.

It was the second time the Crimewatch presenter, and professional partner Aliona Vilani had been in the bottom two, having also faced the dance-off in the opening week of the show. On that occasion he was saved by the judges.

On Saturday, however, the panel voted unanimously to save Lynda and partner Darren Bennett after both had reprised their routines.

Head judge Len Goodman said afterwards he would also have chosen to save Lynda and Darren had the vote not been a unanimous one.

"I would have gone for Lynda and Darren, but bad luck Rav," he said, "I thought you did really well in the dance-off."

Afterwards, Rav said he had enjoyed the experience but admitted he was a little "disappointed" to be leaving the contest so early.

"If I got the chance I'd love to do it all again," he said.

Earlier in the show Rav had had a mixed response to his quickstep.

"It looked as if you were fighting one another from the beginning," said Craig Revel Horwood.

Len Goodman was kinder. "You kept the fun of the dance," he said. "It's hard for a great big bloke to look light and fluffy - it was unfortunate you got a really difficult dance that didn't suit you tonight."

Lynda received a similar response for her paso doble. "All the steps were there," said Bruno Tonioli, "but where was the fire inside?"

However it was a better week for actress Ali Bastian - whose quickstep was described by Alesha Dixon as "gorgeous" and Hollyoaks' Ricky Whittle, who topped the judges' scoreboard with 35 out of 40 - the highest score so far this series.

"I have never seen anyone across any series of Strictly Come Dancing come out and do a paso doble like that," Alesha said.

Jo Wood - who had been the bookies' favourite to go - and boxer Joe Calzaghe were both voted through by the public despite finishing in the bottom two places on the scoreboard.
