Strictly's Bruno: Ricky dance-off gave us a scare

Bruno Tonioli has admitted the Strictly Come Dancing judges were given a "scare" when favourite Ricky Whittle failed to secure the public's support on Saturday's show.

Former Hollyoaks star Ricky found himself in the bottom two after a "lacklustre" rock 'n' roll performance, but the panel opted to save him and send Natalie Cassidy and partner Vincent Simone home.

On Friday, Ricky had been released on bail by police investigating an alleged assault.

Bruno said: "We had a bit of a scare with Ricky in the bottom two - but I still think he is very, very good.

"He's got a lot to offer so it will be interesting to see what happens next week when we're getting towards the semis."

He also praised BBC Breakfast's sports presenter Chris Hollins, who made it through to the quarter finals after performing a Charleston with professional partner Ola Jordan.
