Vernon apologises to Tess on radio show
14/02/2010 - 10:47

TV presenter Vernon Kay has made a public apology to his wife Tess Daly and his family on his Radio 1 show following his recent text messaging scandal.
Speaking on the programme on Saturday Kay - who was reported in the tabloids this week to have sent explicit text messages to around five women - said, "This week you may or may not be aware that, because of some foolish and stupid ÂÂdecisions I've made, I've disappointed and let down a lot of people.
"To my family and everybody else, I am very sorry."
Producers also cancelled any phone-ins from the public, fearing listeners might turn on Kay. Instead they focused mainly on playing music and left the presenter little time to speak.
A Radio 1 spokesman said, "Vernon wanted to present his show and it would have been weird for him to do it without some sort of acknowledgement of what had happened this week."
Strictly Come Dancing co-host Daly, who has been married to Kay since 2003, has cancelled all her TV appearances for the next week as well as signing sessions of her new book The Baby Diaries: Memories, Milestones and Misadventures.
