Whittle in court on dangerous driving charge

Hollyoaks star Ricky Whittle has pleaded not guilty in court to a charge of dangerous driving, following his arrest last November.

The 30-year-old, who finished as runner-up in Strictly Come Dancing 2009, was charged after he allegedly hit a photographer with his car.

The incident occurred as he was taking a break from his Strictly training to attend a Hollyoaks cast party in Liverpool. The alleged victim, who has not been named, was treated for minor injuries.

Whittle appeared before magistrates in a Liverpool court where he denied the charge.

He was granted unconditional bail and will reappear at the court for a committal hearing on March 12.

According to reports, the actor helped to pick up a cameraman who had slipped on ice as he left the court. The man had apparently been walking backwards to film him when he fell.
