Cowell bans 'over-used' songs from X Factor
08/08/2010 - 10:07
Simon Cowell has drawn up a hit list of songs that hopefuls are banned from singing on the new series of The X Factor, according to the papers.
The News Of the World reports that the Kings Of Leon chart-topper Sex On Fire and Jason Mraz's I'm Yours are on the forbidden list, along with two songs by Paolo Nutini - Last Request and New Shoes.
Eva Cassidy's Songbird and Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars have also been banned by the mogul.
Also out are sob stories from hopefuls, while candidates who have had dance lessons are likely to get the seal of approval.
The hit list is part of a shake-up of the show for the 2010 series, with Simon hoping to find a star as successful as Leona Lewis or Alexandra Burke.
"This is about people's real honesty and personality," Simon said. "It's about them and their stage presence."
The new series of the show begins on August 21.
