Reality TV stars dominate end of decade chart

The stars of reality TV shows including X Factor and Pop Idol have dominated the chart of the biggest selling singles of the decade.

Pop Idol winner Will Young had the top selling single of the past ten years with his debut track Evergreen/Anything Is Possible, which sold 1.8m copies, while Gareth Gates, who he beat into second place, was runner-up with his debut Unchained Melody.

And X Factor winners Alexandra Burke and Shayne Ward also made their mark on the top ten best-sellers, finishing in fifth and eighth place respectively.

Meanwhile Hear'Say - the winners of the first series of Popstars in 2000 - came ninth with their chart topper Pure And Simple.

There was also good news for reality show winners in the album chart, as X Factor champion Leona Lewis had the fourth biggest long player of the decade with her debut Spirit.
