X Factor finalists land record deals

X Factor finalists JLS and Eoghan Quigg have both signed deals with major record companies after being snubbed by Simon Cowell, according to the papers.

The Sun reports that 16-year-old Eoghan - who finished third in the 2008 series - has been snapped up by RCA Records, while runners-up JLS have signed with Epic.

Eoghan said he was "over the moon" with his deal, while a spokesman for RCA Records added, "he is a huge talent and everyone is very excited to be working with him."

Although previous X Factor runners-up have been signed up by Simon Cowell in the past - including 2007 finalists Same Difference and Rhydian Roberts - this year he has only signed series winner Alexandra Burke.

"Simon is determined to make Alexandra a huge global star," a music industry insider told the paper. "Everyone thinks she has masses of potential."

"He wants the very best for her and doesn’t want any distractions."

A spokesman for Cowell added: "This year, although many of the finalists were strong, Syco have decided only to sign Alexandra Burke. She’ll have the full focus of the Syco label."
