British Soap Awards: Hollyoaks triumphs! (VIDEO)

Hollyoaks was the big winner at the 10th annual British Soap Awards.

Channel 4's teen soap won a total of six awards at the star-studded bash, shown on ITV1 on Wednesday night, including the much coveted Best Actor and Best Actress gongs, which went to Chris Fountain and Emma Rigby respectively.

Gemma Bissix, now in EastEnders, picked up the award for Best Exit, and the scene in which her character Clare drove a car off a cliff was named Spectacular Scene Of The Year.

Matt Littler and Darren Jon Jeffries - aka Max and OB - picked up the gong for Best On-Screen Partnership and Roxanne McKee scooped the title of Sexiest Female for a second year running.

But ahead of the ceremony, Roxanne admitted that she didn't think she'd win. She said: "I definitely won't win - I wouldn't win again. Besides, now [Louise] is a moody cow, she's having a tough time."

But her co-stars Jamie Lomas and Ricky Whittle missed out on the award for Sexiest Male, which once again went to Coronation Street's Rob James Collier.

Despite Hollyoaks' triumph in six categories, the hotly contested Best Soap gong went to EastEnders, which also won Best Storyline for Max and Stacey's affair.

The award for Best Dramatic Performance went to Jo Joyner (Tanya Branning), while Best Dramatic Performance From A Young Actor went to Jamie Borthwick (Jay).

For Coronation Street, Jack P. Shepherd (David Platt) won the award for Villain Of The Year, while Michelle Keegan, who plays his on-screen girlfriend Tina McIntyre, was named Best Newcomer.

The award for Best Comedy Performance went to Maggie Jones, who plays Blanche Hunt in the soap.

Emmerdale walked away with the award for Best Single Episode, for the storyline involving the death of Ashley and Laurel's baby Daniel.

Coronation Street veteran Liz Dawn was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award. Liz quit the soap earlier this year due to ill health.
