Indian actress Sophiya Haque will be joining the cast of Coronation Street as the Rovers' new barmaid.
Sophiya - who has starred in several Bollywood movies - will play a feisty character called Poppy, who arrives on the cobbles next month, according to the soap's website.
A Coronation Street spokesperson said: "Poppy is feisty and fun and will keep the men of Weatherfield on their toes."
Sophiya found fame as a VJ on pop music TV channels in her home country, which led to her being noticed by Bollywood casting bosses.
Sophiya, who has worked as a model and a dancer, also appeared in the BBC's Fairy Tales series, starring in The Empress's New Clothes alongside Denise van Outen.
And earlier this year she popped up in the blockbuster Wanted with Hollywood heavyweights Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman.
