Novelty of Corrie hasn't worn off, says Julia

Coronation Street actress Julia Haworth has admitted the novelty of walking into the Rovers Return hasn't worn off even after six years on the soap.

The actress - who plays Claire Peacock - also said she feels grateful to still be a part of the show.

"It was very strange walking down the cobbles, but very quickly you don't take it for granted - I still walk into the Rovers and smile even to this day," she said.

"It does become your second home really. You walk down the street as if it's a real street.

"When you have the privilege to take people round - such as people that have bidded in charity auctions for it there's a real feeling of pride when you take people round and you can explain to them why the street's so small."

And the 29-year-old also said she still had fond memories of her very first day on the set.

"There was real excitement and I was made to feel so welcome by cast and crew alike," she explained. "I was 23 when I started, and I'd been watching it on the television for 20 odd years.

"It's a brilliant place to work, and I think if you asked anyone here they'd say exactly the same."
