David Platt
Feeling unloved and rejected since dad Martin left, David Platt (Jack P Shepherd) has grown into a very disturbed young man who seems capable of any evil - even murder.
1990 Born 25 December.
1991 Moves into No8 Coronation Street with mum Gail, dad Martin, half-brother Nicky and half-sister Sarah.
1993 Lodger/babysitter Carmel Finnan flips out and tries to kidnap him.
1999 Mum and dad split up.
2000 First signs of the devil in him when he jealously seeks attention after the birth of Sarah's daughter, Bethany.
2001 Not happy when Gail and Martin finalise their divorce.
2002 Starts at Weatherfield Comp. Helps rescue dad from burning flat.
2003 Nearly dies when Gail's serial killer husband Richard Hillman drives the family into the canal.
2005 Devastated when Martin moves to Liverpool with new partner Robyn.
2006 Helps grow cannabis in flat above the bookies. Spooks family by secretly sending them cards signed 'Richard'. Becomes obsessed with Maria Sutherland. Nearly killed by Charlie Stubbs after threatening to reveal his secret affair with Maria. On Christmas Day, reveals to family that mum considered aborting him. Also reveals Audrey's affair with Bill Webster to Bill's wife, Maureen.
2007 Lies for Tracy Barlow at her trial when she promises sex in return. Turns his unwanted attentions on new neighbour Mel Morton and claims they slept together. Is forced to publicly admit his lie and apologise. Tells Jason Grimshaw he fantasises about killing Gail. Sets fire to exam paper and is expelled from school. Works in grandmother Audrey Roberts' salon. Hides Darryl Morton's Ecstasy tablets in Bethany's doll. She eats one and nearly dies. Thrown out of home by Gail. Goes to live with Audrey. Tries to sabotage wedding of Sarah and Jason Grimshaw by pretending to attempt suicide.
2008 Starts relationship with Tina McIntyre. She aborts their baby. Argues with Gail about this and pushes her down stairs. Dumped by Tina, he goes on rampage, assaulting police officer. Sent to a Young Offenders' Institution. Released in June. Reunites with Tina. Starts work for her father, Joe. Ignites feud with Windass family when they refuse to pay for fitted kitchen.
2009 Splits up with Tina. Sets up Gary Windass on burglary of Audrey's house. Gary's caught but grandfather Ted Page has heart attack. His scheming is exposed and he's shunned by family. Reacts violently when he realises Jason is sleeping with Tina. Gary has him beaten up.
2010 Goes off the rails when he learns his best friend Graeme starts going out with his ex Tina. Runs Graeme down in Gail's car, but eventually gets off because it's ruled to be an accident due to his epilepsy. Becomes a suspect when Tracy Barlow is found bashed unconscious on New Year's Eve.
