The Scots lad is a bit of a wide-boy and likes to be well turned out, just like his late dad Mike Baldwin. But he hasn’t got the Baldwin head for business and is better at spending money than making it.
2002 Mum Susan takes him to Weatherfield to meet his father, Mike Baldwin for the first time – Mike had no idea he had another son. Susan dies in a car crash and Mike gets custody. Adam asks to return to Scotland to boarding school.
2003 Runs away from boarding school after being caught drinking. Bonds with uncle Peter and returns to school.
2004 Arrives for the New Year celebrations and flirts with Sarah Platt.
2005 Finishes school. Mike wants to train him up in the business. Clashes with half-brother Danny, who is running Mike’s factory Underworld.
2006 Mike develops Alzheimer’s. Danny tries to cheat Adam out of his inheritance, but is forced to give him 40 per cent of Underworld. Adam sells his share to the Connor brothers.
Sam was born in 1987 and grew up in Dundee. He was doing a drama degree at Manchester University when he won the role of Adam and had no professional acting experience, although he had done some modelling. Sam took over the role of Adam in late 2004 from the original actor, Iain de Caestecker.
