Pushed from pillar to post by his flighty mum, Cilla, the schoolboy is wary of giving his love to anyone, although he's passionately dedicated to his Great Dane, Schmeichel.
2003 Abandoned by mum Cilla when she moves in with Les and Fiz finds him home alone. Les agrees to take him in.
2004 Slips over at the Kabin while stealing sweets and Cilla sues for compo. Cilla cheats on Les and abandons him yet again. Les takes him in. Gets a dog called Schmeichel and Cilla moves back in.
2005 Abandoned by Cilla and Les when they move to Spain, but they return when it doesn't work out. Distraught when Schmeichel is run over, but the dog recovers.
2006 Asks Les to adopt him after Cilla reveals she can't remember who his real dad is. Furious with Les after discovering he cheated on Cilla, and furious with Cilla after discovering she lied about having terminal cancer!
Left with the dippy Kirk as his main carer after Les does a bunk and Cilla moves to America.
Born in 1994 in Bacup, Lancashire, Sam is one of nine brothers and sisters and his older sister Emily Aston, is also an actress. Sam was picked to play Chesney after training at a local drama group, Carl Godby's Theatre Workshop. He has been hugely popular since joining the show and has won several TV awards.
