Born in 1980 in Burnley, Julia first appeared on TV in an ITV children's series called '3, 7, 11', when she was just 13. She later turned up in many more dramas, including Heartbeat and Where The Heart Is, as well as appearing as a regular character in medical drama Peak Practice. Julia married accountant John Wormald in Burnley in 2006 and they currently live in Manchester.
