2005 Tracks down alcoholic estranged mum Carol in Birmingham. Proposes to Leanne Battersby, but later discovers she’s bedding his dad.
2006 Granddad Mike Baldwin dies from an Alzheimer’s related pneumonia. Develops an unhealthy crush on Frankie and she falls for him. Dad Danny beats him up then disappears and Frankie leaves him.
Rupert was born in 1978 and grew up in Southampton with brother Giles, sister Emma, PA mum Janet and retired production worker dad Tony. Rupert decided to be an actor when he was just four, and was encouraged by his mum, an amateur dramatist.
He went on to do a degree in Theatre Studies at Middlesex University and after leaving college he had a brief stint as a barman before winning small roles in Doctors, EastEnders and Holby City. Rupert went on to star in Five’s ill-fated soap Family Affairs as Cameron Davenport before being asked to join Coronation Street.
Aside from acting, Rupert’s great love is music and he sings in indie band Shepherd’s Pi. Rupert had a long relationship with his Family Affairs co-star and fellow band member Angela Hazledine, but they split amicably in 2006.
