Daniel Granger
General practitioner Daniel Granger is a good and effective doctor - if only he could stop taking so many foolish risks...
Daniel has always liked risk, whether it was being the one to climb the highest tree or doing the most dangerous skateboarding stunt. When Daniel's father died at the age of 14 his mother over-indulged Daniel. He spent his teen years up to no good until Uncle Joe intervened and told him to buckle down and work hard if he wanted a career.
Daniel is a friendly, charming man, always well turned out and aware of his attractiveness. He loves women and has had only one really meaningful relationship (and she was married) and is still something of a big kid.
July 2007 Daniel arrives in Letherbridge and lies that his business partner died leaving the surgery with huge debts which Daniel struggled to pay off. Daniel's gambling addiction was eventually revealed and after a severe beating Daniel went on the run with a salary advance of £5,000 from the Mill and some of Joe's possessions. Joe and Melody were later held hostage by the debt collectors who demanded payment from Joe. When Daniel realised his uncle was in danger, he returned with the police in tow and was subsequently arrested.
2008 Daniel returned to Letherbridge. He started attending Gamblers Anonymous and faced a GMC Fitness to Practice Trial and got through by the skin of his teeth. Desperate to get out of debt he becomes a male escort until Joe finds out and forces him to stop.
2009 After discovering he's a father when Izzie is left for him to look after, Daniel's devastated when her mum Lisa comes back for her. He manages to get access until in an angry moment Ruth tells Lisa all about his past, leaving Daniel back at square one again fighting to see his daughter.
