Karen Hollins
Affable, friendly and up for a laugh, Karen Hollins is very different to her co-receptionists.
Karen is a working class Brummie, married to policeman Rob, with two teenage kids, Jack and Imogen. She's worked at a dentist's for a while so thinks she knows the ins and outs of a medical practice... But she doesn't!
Very witty and with a dirty laugh to rival Michelle's, Karen jollies everyone along and is great with patients, though she gets upset if anyone shouts at her.
She appears to be more confident than she is, and if she's confronted with anything she doesn't understand, her instinct is to back off and leave it to a professional.
February 2009 Karen comes to work at The Mill as a temporary receptionist.
March 2009 When Vivien leaves with Lionel to go to Bermuda, Julia offers Karen the post of permanent receptionist. After talking it through with Ruth she decides to accept.
April 2009 Karen's latent hypochondria is awakened by working at The Mill and it takes Jimmi a lot of work to convince her she's not going to die of the latest disease!
