Ruth Pearce
Receptionist Ruth lacks confidence but she's keen and helpful, and becomes devoted to people quickly.
Ruth is the survivor of a traumatic birth, which resulted in the death of her twin. Ruth's mother blamed Ruth for this and her father left when she was just 13. All of this emotional turmoil has had a profound effect on Ruth.
May 2008At the beginning of the month, Julia bids to take over the Campus surgery contract and wins, inheriting Ruth the receptionist. Quiet and shy, by the end of the month Michelle has given Ruth the confidence to leave her boyfriend Davey who abuses and controls her in everything she does.
August 2008 Ruth has transferred her need from Davey to Michelle. It's gradual but by August Ruth has started copying Michelle in clothes and make up - and it's being noticed by other members of staff...
February 2009 Ruth gives a man in the street CPR and when asked for her name she says 'Michelle Corrigan'. It's also in February when she starts an art class and instantly takes to Michelle's half-brother Adam. Again she says she is a nurse, and asks him out, but doesn't reveal his identity to anyone...
March 2009 After a confrontation with Daniel, Ruth has a breakdown. She says she is Michelle, a nurse, and locks him in a treatment room. When she can't help a patient with chest pains she flees to her house where Adam is waiting for her. Daniel raises the alarm, and Melody and Michelle who go to Ruth's house where they find her in bed with Adam - it's all too much for Michelle
May 2009 After being treated at The Beeches for Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), Ruth ends up living with Julia after her father Stuart is unable to cope. Melody declares Ruth fit to go back to work, and she does, but there's a long road ahead...
